Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rahmatullahi Wa Barakatuhu

Praise be to Allah and may His peace and blessings be upon the Messenger, his family, his Companions, and all those who follow his way until the Day of Judgment.

Welcome to the 15th issue of Risala al Targheeb.

Targheeb has now successfully been with its readers since our first issue in November 2008, bringing a variety of enlightening news, articles,  educational resources, ebooks, useful links, update of events etc.
Al hamdullilah.

Due to its development over the past 18 months and the launch of the Young Momins’ Online Homeschool in summer 2011, we were not able to update you on our activities via the newsletter for a year as we spent much of our energies to focus on developing the online homeschool.  And for this reason, we would also publish the Targheeb newsletter half yearly instead of each quarter, insha Allah.

Targheeb will continue its strive to bring not only the best Islamic content and information to you using internet technology; in fact, it foresees the interest that some of our readers seek to gain from educating their young ones.

As we embark on this mission to help children who memorise Quran and have no means to elementary education, we have re-launched the content to reflect our online homeschooling activities. In its desire to expand its school,  YMOH is also working with specialists in the areas of curricula development and teacher training.

The highlights of the happenings in the Islamic world and Islamic Banking have been updated in their sections respectively.

The Targheeb page will contain to research articles relevant to Islamic World news, Islamic Banking and education in general.  In this issue, Research will include the Mission and Vision of the online homeschool, “Seven Basic Principles of Islamic Pedagogy”, which was developed for the Islamic Teacher Development Program as a research project, and several news articles on education, such as "Teach a Student to Learn by Enquiry, Motivation, incentive, Desire to Learn", "How to Make a Child Think Critically", and "The Strategies of Metacognition" as well as others.

In the Young Momins’ section, we will continue to share with you resources developed for the online homeschool. The titles for this quarter will include a read aloud introduction to the Science topic earth, moon and sun titled ‘Best of Allah’s Creation’, selection of biographies from the 'First Companions of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)' series,  the stories of ‘The Queen and the Hoopoe’, Julaibib r.a – the Martyr’, ‘Jazan - the Singer’, Dawood a.s and Jaloot and other useful resources such as reading logs and much more for public access.

The E-library section encompasses a range of Islamic titles, the Arabic and Islamic Studies test books used by us under YMOH resources, ShamaailTirmidhi-ImamTirmidhi, Iqtidaa-ul-‘Ilm al-‘Amal - Knowledge Mandates Action By Imaam Abu Bakr Ahmad bin ‘Alee Al-KhateebAl-Baghdaadee and Animals in the Glorious Quran and others.  (ebooks published as recommended resourses are also freely available online via other websites)

We hope you find the issue beneficial.  Insha Allah.

Allaah Connected The Straight Path To Himself And To Those Whom He Has Favored

"Guide us to the straight path. The path of those whom your favor is upon and not the path of those whom your anger is upon nor those who are astray." [1:5]

Imaam Al-Allaamah Muhammad Ibn Saalih Al-Uthaymeen (may Allaah have mercy upon him) stated:

"Allaah has connected the straight path to himself and he connected it to his creation. Allaah stated in Soorah Al-Faatihah:

"Guide us to the straight path. The path of those whom your favor is upon and not the path of those whom your anger is upon nor those who are astray." (Al-Faatihah)

Here Allaah has connected the straight path to those whom He has bestowed His favor upon. Allaah has also stated:

"And indeed you guide to a straight path. The path of Allaah, The One for whom is that which is in the heavens and the earth." (Ash-Shoorah: 52-53)

How do we combine between these two types of connections? We say that Allaah connected the straight path to those whom His favor is upon because they are the ones who traverse upon it. He connected it to himself because He is the one who placed it for His servants and it is that which leads them to Him."
